Important: Why should you install and use Microsoft 365 for Enterprise/ProPlus/Subscription version from the Microsoft 365 portal? We’ll be providing more information by January about how to get security updates for Office 365 ProPlus on devices running Windows 7 after support for Windows 7 ends. Make sure to discuss this process with your local IT staff before making changes to your system. We recommend that organizations migrate to Windows 10 or a supported operating system before the end of support date on Januin order to continue receiving new feature updates to Office 365 ProPlus. But, during that time, as long as the device is still running Windows 7, Office 365 ProPlus won’t receive any new features updates. Through January 2023, Microsoft will provide security updates for Office 365 ProPlus on Windows 7. If your organization is using Office 365 ProPlus on devices running Windows 7, we strongly recommend your organization move those devices to Windows 10.Įven though Windows 7 will no longer be supported after January 2020, we understand Office 365 customers may need more time in their migration to a supported operating system. Using Office 365 ProPlus on older, unsupported operating systems may cause performance and reliability issues over time. This includes using Office 365 ProPlus on a Windows operating system that is currently in support. Because Office 365 is governed by the Modern Lifecycle Policy, customers are required to stay current as per the servicing and system requirements for the product or service. This is the best option if you simply want access to the standard suite of Office apps, the basic editing and formatting capabilities, as well as 5GB of OneDrive cloud storage. As announced previously, Windows 7 will be out of support after January 14, 2020. Similar to Google Drive, by logging into your Microsoft account in, you can use the cloud-based versions of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and more, instead of installing them. All you need is a stable internet connection to do so. The first free option is accessing Microsoft Office via the web. There are a few different methods on how you can go about this, so read on to see which method makes the most sense for you. You may be asking yourself, "If I can access all of these apps and programs for free, why should I even pay for Microsoft Office?" While these cloud-based methods on the web and mobile come at no cost, they do require you to be connected to the internet at all times, the amount of storage that Microsoft provides is capped, and there are several software tools and features from the paid versions that are unavailable. Here are three methods you can use to access the Office suite at no cost. Closeīelieve it or not, free options are available. The movie's over stylized and exaggerated characters brought Yoshiaki Kawajiri (incidentally a mentor of sorts for the movie's director, Takeshi Koike) immediately to mind, and I have never appreciated Kawajirisan's work. In spite of the praise that has been heaped upon Redline, I was not actually expecting it to be that good. If you like cars, spaceships, guns and explosions, watch it as soon as you can. The remarkable thing is that, at the same time, it isn't offensively and painfully stupid like, say, Armageddon. If you need any further motivation, it somehow involves a "bio-weapon" called Funky Boy that could give Akira himself a couple of pointers in indiscriminate destruction. Words can't describe it, so you'll have to see it for yourself. Soon, the tobacco troubles are forgotten, as it's time for the big race. He runs into inconceivably bad service at the money-changing window, and gets ripped off in an ungodly way while buying cigarettes. The place is just as anarchic and badly-managed as one would expect upon arrival, JP is accosted by a gang of knee-tall aliens who look like Tweety's sketchy, mutated fugee cousins. The base camp for the final race lies on a refugee world. The movie would be hilarious without even trying for humor, simply because it's so preposterous however, it does try in its odd way, and pulls it off. Roboworld appears completely barren except for some of the most destructive weaponry in the known universe, and by golly, is the government ever determined to use it all. This year, the Redline race committee feels that equipping the cars with rockets and grenades doesn't make for nearly enough mayhem, and decides to hold the race on Roboworld - a planet run by Nazi cyborg generals who are willing to do absolutely anything to avoid the honor. They are just two of the weird characters who qualify for the ultimate landscape-altering contest. The crown goes to Sonoshee, his childhood crush and next best racer. P., who almost wins it until a Mafia bomb takes out his front wheel. The movie opens with a race that is merely impossible, and introduces J. A pack of nerdy Asians with paintbrushes do Hollywood like punks, and all the render farms in the world wilt and run barren. It's been attempted, and has usually led to legendary failures like Speed Racer. Michael Bay and his lesser followers can use all the CG and shaky-cams they want, but no live-action movie will ever be able to whap the viewer in the face with unhinged chaos that buckles the frame and yet stays somehow comprehensible. If you want to see what animation can do better than live film, Redline is a good start. In this world, men are men women are women squishy purple aliens are purple and squishy and everything is blown completely out of proportion. Things go fast, crash into each other and go up like the Hindenburg. P., is a racer who tends to explode and wipe out before the finish, but feels destined to win the big one. This may be for reasons of secrecy, or just because the old planet is rendered unusable. An illegal and absurdly violent drag race occurs once every five years, each time on a different planet. Quick capsule summary of Redline: It's an animated, intergalactic "Death Race 2000," on buffalo steroids and with a jalapeño up its a$$. How cool is that? (My favourite is Machine Head's.) And, in the end, that's what Redline ultimately wants to leave you thinking: "How cool is that?" Hell, every character gets their own theme song. This review would be incomplete without mentioning the amazing music, an eclectic group of tunes that completes the adrenaline rush. Redline really only does one thing - epic action - and those looking for anything else will probably be disappointed. It does, however, manage to use common tropes in a way that feels mythic and not derivative. Plot-wise, there isn't much going on, with the story a serviceable vehicle to get from one action sequence to another. The only other media that comes to mind as capturing this sensation is the anime series Giant Robo, which seems like a clear precedent here. You get the feeling that any of the other racers, some of whom only get a sliver of screen time, could easily support their own movie, and that kind of overflowing exuberance is hard not to buy into. It's a bold debut for director Takeshi Koike, and what really amazes is that it manages to be an epic story that at the same time seems to be only a sliver of a crazy and exciting universe. Redline is one of those movies that is absolutely popping with adolescent joy, from the sleekly-animated racing sequences to the ridiculous bravado of the characters. Good job, Elden Ring, for letting us bind actions to both the keyboard and the mouse! Duplicate keybinds are great. Again you could argue that's counter to how Elden Ring was designed, but Capcom added similar flexible shortcuts to Monster Hunter World when it released Iceborne, and removing a couple unnecessary key presses didn't break the game. With more real estate on the keyboard, other actions that require multiple presses on a controller, like two-handing a weapon, could easily get their own keys. I think FromSoftware should go further and let us bind individual spell slots to keys, too, which has already been added to the game with a mod called the Enhanced Moveset Utility. Souls diehards might argue that having to frantically scroll through your equipped items mid-fight is an intentional part of the experience, but Elden Ring could at least allow for hotkeys for each quick access pouch item while keeping the spirit of the original design intact. Many shooters let you swap between weapons with the mouse wheel, hold down a key to bring up a visual quick-swap wheel, and press an individual number key to swap directly to a particular weapon. On a controller this makes sense for the D-pad, but on a keyboard, it's silly that we can't simply bind each item to its own individual shortcut. But it really falls apart when you pull up the pouch, which is meant to provide quick access to four items of your choice. You can at least rebind the arrow keys however you want, and you can even use the mouse wheel as a secondary way to swap weapons. The game almost gets it right here, though. Elden Ring really needs to let us bind inventory items to individual hotkeysĮlden Ring guide : Conquer the Lands BetweenĮlden Ring paintings : Solutions and locationsĮlden Ring map fragments : Reveal the worldĮlden Ring co-op : How to squad up online It makes sense as a literal translation of the controller function to the keyboard but not a practical one, which is also the case for how Elden Ring deals with your inventory. That's the Esc key's whole purpose in life! On a PC Esc should always be able to back out of menus, even if you wouldn't do the same with a Start button. Because Esc is used to bring up the menu in-game-which totally makes sense for a controller's Start button!-it can't be used on the keyboard to back out of options screens. Letting us rebind those options is an obvious first step, but more important is divorcing how they work on a controller from how they work on a keyboard. Even Dark Souls 1 let you change the menu key! It also doesn't include an option for the map, which is hard-bound to G ("View" button on Xbox, touchpad on PlayStation). The key binding options don't include an entry for how you access the main menu (Start on a controller): It's hard-bound to Esc. There are only a few enemies - low-level hollows on the path toward Undead Burg and very hard to kill skeletons in the cemetery on the way to the Catacombs. This is a strange regression from all of the Dark Souls games on PC: there are some functions Elden Ring simply does not let you change. There’s only one bonfire in the area and no boss to fight. You can also find a few multiplayer-themed consumables and a weapons. There are lots of items scattered around Firelink, which will help you earn some levels early. When you finally free the elevator from Undead Parish to Firelink, you’ll be able to interact with Snuggly the Crow both to trade shiny items and to return to the Undead Asylum. There are paths to and from Undead Burg, Undead Parish, Lower Undead Burg, The Catacombs, and New Londo Ruins. (If you wander down a little way into the New Londo Ruins, you’ll be able to meet the blacksmith Rickert of Vinheim much earlier than you’ll encounter Andre of Astora.) As you progress through the game, more NPCs and vendors will appear here.įirelink serves as your hub for the rest of Lordran. On your first visit here, you’ll meet a few useful NPCs - the Crestfallen Warrior who serves as a guide to what you’re doing in the game, the mute Ash Maiden who will upgrade your Estus Flask, and Petrus of Thorolund who can sell you miracles. Firelink Shrine is Dark Souls: Remastered’s hub. All of the songs written for the show needed to speak to the show, but not about it. He took the chorus music from ‘We Go On’ and the verse of ‘Tapestry of Nations’ and then gave Don Dorsey an instrumental combination. The Disney Company asked Gavin for play out music after the show was over. It happened so quickly and it was its own perfect experience.” Normally you go through rounds of recording for a project of that magnitude, but I guess that’s part of what made it so special. “I recorded the final vocal right out of the gate,” said Coffey. Interestingly, the vocals you hear in the current show are the actual demo tracks that Kellie laid down during those sessions. While we were laying down the demo recordings I kept thinking how stunningly beautiful these songs are and that this was going to be very special.” Therefore, the vocal contractor recommended me to give it a go. “They were not sure that they got what they were looking for. “Someone had come in before me to record ‘We Go On,’” said Coffey. However, she was not originally supposed to sing both songs. In addition to Gavin Greenaway’s instrumental music there are two songs with vocals: “We Go On” and “Promise.” Kellie Coffey, who was the Academy of Country Music’s 2003 Top New Female Vocalist, was the singer on both of those songs. It was the best kept secret because Eisner never came and saw any of the rehearsals.” Where’s the contrast? Where’s the heart? Where’s the drama?” We thought ‘boy, we really got something here.’ And we did. “When you do a spectacular-type of show like IllumiNations, you map out where the highs are and where the lows are. I did this primarily for Paul Pressler, who at the time, was the chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. I dedicated one Walt Disney World theme park per wall and kept track of all the entertainment, music, and live entertainment in each of those four parks. “I had a war room in Los Angeles across from Walt Disney Imagineering. “Back in those days, as I got promoted,” said Logan. “From the first time someone heard the music I wanted it to be accessible and understood,” said Greenaway. The music that Greenaway wrote had to reflect the musical traditions of the world without being overtly world, classical, or pop. He said that they made sure they supported Greenaway even when he was not sure of himself. Logan’s team eventually came around and thought that Greenaway’s music was great and would fit perfectly into what they were doing with the show. I have never seen an outline so detailed and thought through.” “I didn’t need to take notes,” said Greenaway. When they met, Gavin didn’t even take notes which made Don a little nervous. It was very freeing.”Įven Don Dorsey initially wasn’t sure of Greenaway. I had nothing to lose and nothing to live up to. All Disney had was Hans’s recommendation. “I had not presented a show reel or demo. “I was very much in the position of the underdog,” said Greenaway. It didn’t even sound like Hans Zimmer’s music. He would tell him to write something about a boy and a dog or something that has some heart or has a spectacular feel. Logan would send him paragraphs with instructions to write music based on a topic. He said that when he first saw Gavin, he looked more like 17-years-old than 22. Zimmer: “Just go meet him and listen to what he writes.Logan: “No way am I going to take a chance with a 22-year-old on this project!”.Go to the Beatles’s studio and you can meet him there.” He drew up a contract and paid him an advance, but after several months on the project Zimmer said he couldn’t do it anymore because Jeffrey Katzenberg had hired him to go to DreamWorks. “Hans said that he really wanted to do it.” Logan said they talked about all kinds of styles of music for the show including jazz, opera, and Broadway, but they decided it could not be any of that. I went to Hans and asked him if he would do the music for this show because I knew his work and I knew he’d do a good job.” He was under contract with us to find composers for various movies. “At the time Hans Zimmer was working at the Studio. Because it was Epcot, we didn’t use Disney music because Disney music belonged in the Magic Kingdom.” It was always classical music since that is what the world knew. “With the past shows, it had always been the same music,” said Logan. Now that they knew what the theme and what the general direction of the show was, Logan said they had to make other decisions. The Music of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth … a brand new sound Logan talks about the history and little known facts about one of Disney’s longest running nighttime shows. In part one of our conversation with Ron Logan, the former executive vice president of Walt Disney entertainment reminisced about the various lagoon shows at Disney’s Epcot, as well as the upcoming final performance of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth in September. For my money, however, the most effective of these special abilities belongs to Wario: he can usher in a massive thunder cloud over an area of the hole, and anybody who tries to strike their ball at maximum power while under it will be struck by lightning, costing them a stroke. King Bob-omb can spawn a series of (you guessed it) bombs around his ball that can knock opponents and their balls away if touched. Luigi, for example, can turn the area around where his ball lands to ice, making for a difficult surface to putt and indeed run on if trying to get to your ball. They’re available to perform across all modes, but it’s in Speed Golf that they really come into their own. These aforementioned “special shots” are not only highly accurate shots, but come with effects that can be used to sabotage your opponents. Sometimes plans can be disrupted, though, thanks to the unique character abilities belonging to each of the 16 playable characters. It’s a clever risk-vs-reward mechanic that keeps it fresh hole after hole. That’s because each shot you take adds 30 seconds to your time, so taking those extra few moments to line up a better shot will benefit you in the long run because the victor is determined by speed rather than who takes the fewest strokes. Instead of simply taking your shot, watching to see where it goes, and then magically appearing next to your ball, it places as much importance on what happens in between strokes as the swings of the club itself.Īs you might reasonably assume from the name, time is very much the key in Speed Golf, but the phrase “more haste, less speed” also rings very true. This fresh take on a round of 18 holes is where I found the majority of my enjoyment coming from. Speed Golf is the new twist on the formula this time around, and it’s fair to assume is what inspired the “Super Rush” part of Mario Golf: Super Rush’s name. The mode that does spark some joy is Speed Golf. The standard modes of match play and stroke play also provide comfort and familiarity, and as with every mode (aside from story campaign) these can be played solo or with up to three other players for a relaxed time with Mario and friends, but they’re so old and worn that while they’re certainly comforting, they’re nothing to get excited about. It’s these simple button presses as the power bar fills up on the right hand side of the screen, coupled with the subsequent sound of club hitting ball that evokes nostalgia and takes me to a happy place. Choose your playing style and face the consequences of your actions. Parts of the game take place during the day, unlike in Deus Ex, but most locations are nevertheless brooding and dark. Also, a secondary theme of human liberty and political secessionism underplays the game, setting up the events that led to the world of the first Deus Ex. Conspiracy theories and immensely powerful corporations also feature strongly, as in Deus Ex, with the Illuminati playing a key role in the story. In contrast, characters who oppose augmentation wear clothing that is more or less current-day. In reinterpreted late-mediaeval Italian style, and the game as a whole has a sepia-tinted color palette reminiscent of historic manuscripts. Characters who support the advances of human augmentation dress themselves and decorate their homes. The pace of technological development is reflected visually by a Renaissance theme. “Mankind is using mechanical augmentations,” director Jean-François Dugas said before the game’s release, “but there is still much to be determined in terms of their effect on society and the ultimate direction it will lead us in.” The Greek myth of Icarus and Daedalus appears in Adam Jensen’s dreams as an allegory to this thought, and also – given that Daedalus was the name of an artificial intelligence in Deus Ex – an intellectual bridge to the original game. Human Revolution deals with the ethics of transhumanism, and carries an overarching message of humanity’s reach exceeding its grasp. Four years later on Christmas Eve, he is running his counting house in a building where the Old Globe will eventually stand. In this version of the “Carol,” Scrooge is a moneylender who helped fund the construction of Balboa Park for the 1915 Panama–California Exposition. Adam Koch’s scenic design has a hidden surprise and David Israel Reynoso’s turn-of-the-century costumes add color and whimsy to the show. Greenberg’s imaginative direction uses simple props, like puppets, posters, a ladder and empty door frame, and he allows the show’s multitalented five-member cast to do the rest, including singing, dancing, playing instruments and interacting with the audience. After a pandemic break, it’s back, in the intimate Sheryl & Harvey White Theatre. The 78-minute play by Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen premiered at the Globe in 2019. The more San Diegans know about their hometown, the funnier it gets. Although the bones of the redemptive story of Ebenezer Scrooge one Christmas Eve night are all there, the meat layered on top in this show is liberally seasoned with amusing references to local sports teams, neighboring cities and local landmarks. The funny and briskly paced play with music is a reimagining of Charles Dickens’ Victorian holiday novella “A Christmas Carol,” set in windswept San Diego, circa 1919. It’s fitting that the Old Globe’s anachronistic “Ebenezer Scrooge’s BIG San Diego Christmas Show” opened Tuesday just as Santa Ana winds prepare to sweep into town for a balmy Thanksgiving weekend. If your vehicle is leaking brake fluid, the puddle’s location can indicate which brake system component is causing problems. In general, if your vehicle’s brake performance is compromised, then there’s likely an issue somewhere in your braking system. There are several common red flags to spot a brake fluid leak. So, how can you tell if you have a brake fluid leak ? 4 Common Symptoms Of A Brake Fluid Leak This reduced pressure in the hydraulic brakes then translates to problems in stopping your vehicle. You lose brake pressure, as a leak not only reduces the fluid in the brake line, but also introduces air into your brake system. So, what happens when there’s a brake fluid leak ? But if there are air bubbles in the straw, the water doesn’t move evenly anymore as the air bubbles create a break in the pressure distribution. If the straw is full of water and you blow from one end - the water moves evenly together. There can’t be any air in the brake line as air bubbles can affect the hydraulic pressure of the brake fluid, which will change how your brakes react. This way, an equal force is delivered from the brake pedal to all four tires simultaneously. When the brake pedal is pressed, brake fluid acts as a conduit to transmit pressure to each tires’ braking mechanism.įluid is non-compressible and any pressure exerted on the fluid is equally distributed. Brake fluid is a type of hydraulic fluid that’s used in your car’s brake system. |
